The NamesDirect affiliate program is simple: You put a link to NamesDirect on your Web site or in your e-mails. When someone clicks on the link they are taken to the NamesDirect.com Web site. If they make a purchase within 90 days of clicking your link you get 15% commission on the sale. The only exception is purchases made by customers with discounted pricing. Here are some examples:

• A customer follows your link and immediately registers a .com domain name for 5 years with e-mail and URL forwarding. They are charged $150 and you make $22.50

• A customer who has negotiated a bulk price with NamesDirect (as they register more than 100 domains at a time) follows your link and buys a .com domain. You make $0 as they have bulk pricing.

• A customer follows your link, searches for a couple of names but doesn't make a purchase. Two months later they search Google and click on a link to NamesDirect and purchase 10 .org domain names for two years each. They are charged $600, and because it is within 90 days of them clicking on your link you make $90 (including a $10 bonus as part of our performance incentive plan; see CJ for more information on this plan).

• You have an opt-in newsletter with 25,000 subscribers, and you promote NamesDirect's $24.95/yr. WebMail. 10% follow the link, and 5% of those purchase the WebMail package. This equals 125 sales of $24.95 for a total of $3118.75, on which you make $467.81 (including $80 performance bonus).

Here's how you join the program:

• If you understand affiliate programs and how they work, and are already a member of Commission Junction (CJ) all you need to do is log onto CJ, search for NamesDirect and apply to join our program. Once your application is approved, you can then download links and put them on your Web site. We recommend the search boxes or some descriptive text and a banner (see our marketing tips page).

• If you are new to Commission Junction you will need to apply for a CJ account. Click on sign up at the top left of this page and fill out the application form. Once you are accepted by Commission Junction you will receive our welcome e-mail and will be able to download links to place on your Web site.
